Volunteer Requirements
Important information for ALL parish employees and parish volunteers ages 18 & up (ALL ministries included)

Background Information-in July 2024 the Diocese moved to an all digital record keeping process-this includes all policies-background screening, code of conduct, protecting God’s children (sex abuse policy) social media, credit checks, driving policy etc.
What does this mean for you? If you have been and continue to be a parish employee or volunteer (all ministries-no exclusions) you will probably need to update your compliance information. This will need to be done by all of us every five years. It is a reasonably easy-but a time consuming process. I’ll outline the steps below. Please know that –as in the past-you must be compliant in all areas to be able to continue to
be employed or volunteer.
Thank you in advance for your time, talent and willingness to take these steps to keep our parish safe and compliant with the diocese.
Past & Current Volunteers
For persons who have/are volunteering and have once been through this process. Please follow the steps listed below:
1. Log in to www.virtusonline.org
2. Put in your password (if you have forgotten your password)
Click on to the tab I need log in help and follow the instructions
3. Log in to the home page-if you see areas that are in RED it means you need to renew
4. Click on to my compliance summary expand and read update information. Follow the prompts to update
5. If a certificate of completion is available-click on and print your certificate
6. Go back to the home page-click on to update my account
** if you find you cannot get into your account or it is marked inactive please let me know and I’ll unlock it for you to have access.
*** It is recommended that you check your account once a week for updates.
New Volunteers
For persons who a new volunteers and have not gone through this process. Please follow the steps listed below
1 Log in to www.virtusonline.org
2. Create a password
3. Follow the steps required to become compliant to be a volunteer or employed
Additional Information
If you handle money for the parish (counters, ushers, finance council, parish council, ministry/organization bookkeepers )please complete the Credit Check part of the background screening
If you drive for your ministry (Communion to the homebound, hospitals, take money to the bank for deposit, drive on youth field trips etc)
Please bring in your driver’s license and insurance declaration
You need $100,000/300,000 in liability insurance
We will scan these documents and forward them to the diocese.
